Mental health is serious. Healing doesn't have to be heavy.

Clinical Comedy delivers trauma-informed therapeutic programming that integrates evidence-based clinical modalities — CBT, DBT, narrative therapy, and group process — with the tools of stand-up, storytelling, and improv. Founded and led by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and professional comedian.

Our Services

Three ways to bring humor and healing together — each trauma-informed, evidence-based, and led by a licensed clinician.
Creativity Matters

Therapeutic Workshops

Experiential, clinician-facilitated groups for treatment centers, schools, and organizations — built with your clinical team and adapted to your population and level of care, targeting outcomes like distress tolerance, cognitive flexibility, and group cohesion. We don't joke about trauma. We help people move through it, with levity as the vehicle — never the punchline.

Stand-Up Performances

Live, professionally produced comedy for treatment centers, schools, workplaces, and fundraising events. Thoughtful, polished sets about mental health, recovery, and the shared strangeness of being human — built to connect, destigmatize, and remind people they're not alone. It's not therapy. It's just a really good show.

Meet the Founder

Clinical Comedy was founded by Ally Weinhold, LCSW — a Los Angeles–based licensed clinical social worker, professional comedian, and mental health advocate with fifteen years in recovery. Her work sits at a rare intersection: a clinician grounded in evidence-based practice — trauma-informed CBT, DBT, Polyvagal Theory, and narrative and expressive arts therapy — and a working comedian who has performed at the Laugh Factory, the Comedy Store, and the Hollywood Improv, as well as stages in New York, Chicago, London, Paris, and Edinburgh.

While earning her Master's in Social Work, Ally kept returning to one question: if so many art forms are used in mental health treatment, why not comedy? Clinical Comedy is her answer. Today she delivers workshops, performances, and trainings in treatment centers, hospitals, schools, workplaces, and military bases across the country — and presents at addiction medicine and mental health conferences nationwide, with select sessions approved for CEU credit.
